A loving gesture to those who are hesitant to receive abdominal scar release treatment.

April is C-section awareness month. The stark reality is that one in two birthing parents in Australia experience birth trauma and we have a 39% C-section rate. When these two statistics collide, even if you believe that the offering of C-section scar release treatment is awesome you may know in your heart that you aren’t ready or couldn’t do that for yourself. There is a path to heal ✨

Below is my flexible plan at how I would approach this sensitive journey with a mother.

  • 🍃Book in a standard postpartum Massage. I would meet you on the day with your needs at that time with a grounding massage with traditional black sesame oil. A C-section scar release appointment is a longer consult (90 min) but initially you could book in a 60 min massage, get to know me and see if I’m the right fit for you. It’s a very personal choice and if I’m not the right therapist for you, that’s okay. We have other wonderful therapist here in Launceston 🙌 Check out this post with all professionals tagged who attended Maddies C-Section Release training. Another idea head to Bodylanes page to check out her directory of recognise professionals.

  • 🍃During a follow-up massage we could start to work on the ribs of the abdomen area, the diaphragm and belly button. We could leave it at that, if that’s all you’re up for on that day.

  • 🍃Moxabustion over the scar is a warming and gentle therapy that does not touch the skin/scar in anyway. Hovering this nourishing herb over the womb and scar is epically nourishing, book a 90 minute consult for this one.

  • 🍃In your own time I could give you some homework to use a tool; gua sha or body brush to gentle glide over the scar (you might not be up for using your hands directly on the scar) Education about how to aim the breath down into the scar, sending positive affirmations to your scar and colours with your thoughts to the scar to start to reconnect ❤️💛💚💙

  • 🍃Lastly, we could have a go at doing some scar work together. Because we have taken the time to get to know each other and slowly worked our way towards this hopefully by now we can start to unpack any adhesions or restrictions in the lower half of the abdomen. The Massage consultation is your time. If you would like to withdraw consent from having me touch your scar at any time - you say the word and we can stop ✋

This discussion was suggested to me by a client who has received abdominal scar release from me with fabulous results and is encouraging her friend to have a C-section scar release but she’s got reservations. I get it. I’ve been there 🫶 be patient with yourself, it takes time ❤️‍🩹

Above is a new mama, we started work on her scar before she was eight weeks with education at how to aim the breath into mobilising the scar tissue from the inside. We have now done two scar release appointments. Check out in the top left-hand corner, the breath is disconnected and the tissue, abdomen jump around. Below in the after video see the big full breath how it fills her WHOLE abdomen space with ease and beautiful flow together with her scar 🥹

Forever grateful to my teacher Madelaine Longrigg, check out her amazing work here.
